NEWS ON CONGO 010: Leaflet at Copenhagen protest [First posted: 12.09.98] During the protest demonstration yesterday 11 September in Co- penhagen, Denmark, against the ongoing aggression against the DR Congo (see "NEWS 008"), a leaflet in Danish and English, published by the DR Congo Committee in Sweden which supported the demonstration, was distributed. Its text, in the respective languages, follows. Leaflet text in English: STOP THE CRIMES IN THE CONGO! AGGRESSORS MUST OUT! *Demonstration* Meets at Christiansborg Slotsplads Fri, 11 Sept 1998, 1 p.m. - to Embassies of U.S. and France € We, members and adherents of the DR Congo Committee in Sweden, support the demonstration against the aggression in the Congo which is organized in Copenhagen, Denmark, today by the Unity Committee Against the Crimes in the Congo. € We are incensed by and condemn that two weeks long in- terruption of the provisioning of electricity and clean water to the 6 million inhabitants of Kinshasa and Brazzaville which was criminally undertaken by the so- called "rebels", in reality invading foreign troops, in the DR Congo. € We rejoice at the fact that the Inga dam has now been reconquered and its facilities will soon again be able to provide electricity. But those responsible for this crime, which has cost the lives of many and has caused great suffering, must be brought to trial. € We condemn the flagrant aggression, which still conti- nues, by Rwanda and Uganda against the Democratic Repub- lic of Congo. It is the result of an international plot. Certain big powers want to re-colonize the DR Congo. € We want to bring to the attention of everybody the fact that there is going on a concerted lie campaign by all the mass media in a number of countries, in favour of this aggression. We hope that the Danish people and all other peoples will see through this campaign, and call on them to support the Congolese people in its struggle against the assault! ________________________________________________________________ Leaflet published by: DR Congo Committee in Sweden 11 September 1998 [Address: Further below in this posting] Leaflet text in Danish: STOP FORBRYDELSERNE I CONGO! ________________________________________________________________ Flyveblad udgivet af: DR Kongo-kommittén i Sverige 11 september 1998 [Address further below in this posting] ________________________________________________________________ "NEWS ON CONGO" postings bring statements by the Congo National Association in Sweden and the DR Congo Committee in Sweden and also reproduce information and analysis from other sources.
